In 3A there’s been one constant throughout the year; Silver Creek are the clear favorites. The Dragons have been ranked #1 at the beginning of the year, middle of the year, and now at the end. In fact, you could make a legit argument SC could compete and possibly win the 4A state title. That’s how I feel about them anyways. They check all the boxes; height, shooting, depth, pg play, talent. If I had to pick one concern, it’s a state title or bust year for a group that hasn’t won a sectional yet. They’ll get Jr. All Star Anthony Fresh and Charlestown’s best shot if the Pirates can make it to championship Saturday. If there’s a team to derail them in the semi state it would most likely be Cathedral. The Irish have been pretty much the 2nd best team in 3A all year and have some strength to pull the upset @ the semi state (if they can get past defending sectional champ Attucks). Princeton, Bosse, Gibson Southern, and Boonville could make a case to come out of the Evansville area with the Tigers being the slight favorites. Guerin Catholic is young and maybe a year away but they’ve been as hot as anyone the last month of the season. Up north I feel like Columbia City is the favorites but teams like New Haven and FW Blackhawk want to make a deep run and possibly get to Indy. Is this the time for a group of seniors @ Gary West to play their best ball? Talent-wise, they’re as good as anyone up north with Trey Hinton and Tyler Crews. The 3A semi states, especially in the south have a chance to be really special with 4 very good teams.
