It’s mid September and we’re just getting started on our annual Top 50 teams statewide. On this page you’ll be able to check out the preseason rankings all year long, and see how right or wrong they may have been. I tried to have a good mix of teams from all classes and not just a bunch of 4A teams, although there’s certainly a good number of them. Right before the season I’ll put out my rankings for each class rather than this all around Top 50. Last year’s preseason #1, Crown Point came within a few minutes of becoming the state champ as our #5 preseason team, Mt. Vernon came away with the state title. The 3A champion Cathedral was ranked @ #15 overall and #2 in my 3A poll. 2A state champion Parke Heritage was at the #22 spot and #2 overall in my 2A poll. And I was sleeping on Barr Reeve because they won the 1A state title without being ranked in my Top 50 overall. So whatever ranking you see here is a fairly good indication of what you can expect from the upcoming season. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the Top 50 in 2026- 2027.
