Since it’s November now I’m going to go into a 6 pack of Must- See games category for Northern Indiana, Central Indiana, and Southern Indiana. These are the top 6 must-see games for the upcoming 2025- 26 H.S. basketball season. These will give you a preview and idea of what games to try and catch this year. I’ll be putting out a 6 pack of games that include the best teams, atmosphere, and players. This gives you all a chance to put these games in your basketball calendar before the season starts. This week we’re looking at games to see in Southern Indiana.
December 2. Charlestown @ Silver Creek. This is likely a preview of the Sectional 30 final later on in the year. The Pirates have one of their better teams this century but unfortunately for them, SC likely has one of their own top teams. The Dragons should roll out 9 or 10 deep and there’s not much drop off. They’ve got size, ball handling, 3 pt. shooting, and now experience. Charlestown also has 4 returning starters (2 of whom have played varsity ball since their freshmen year). Anthony Fresh is worth the watch if you haven’t seen him play and he’s a probable Indiana All Star.
December 19. Columbus North @ Columbus East. The rivalry is a good enough reason to make the trip to Columbus, but this year both teams are real contenders down in 4A south. Last year these 2 teams split, but East got the better of them in March knocking out the Bulldogs. Olympian senior Keaton Lawson may not be known much statewide but he’s very good athlete that plays just about every position for CE. North comes in with junior Austin Perry and senior Caleb Ferguson. If you haven’t been to CE’s ‘The Pit’ this one is worth checking out.
January 2 and 3- Ray Furney Holiday Classic @ Lawrenceburg. The top tourney in southern Indiana this year looks to be way down close to Cincinnati right after New Years. The teams involved in the 2 day event are; Shortridge, Silver Creek, New Palestine, Guerin Catholic, Bloomington South, Ritter, Centerville, Lawrenceburg, Plainfield, FW Blackhawk, Harrison (Lafayette), and Castle. On paper you could anticipate a Plainfield v. Silver Creek final but there’s really good games all over the place. It’s a chance for southern Indiana to see good teams they normally wouldn’t get to see.
January 10- Princeton @ Evansville Bosse. Unquestionably the game of the year in the Pocket City with both teams laying claim to being the best in the city. Both teams are in my Top 10 teams in 3A with likely one (or both) making a run @ the semi state. There will be alot of talent on the floor in this one. Bosse’s Dorion Bowen and Elijah Chinn against Princeton’s Edwin Holmes and Quintyn Voltz will be worth the drive if you’re anywhere close to Evansville on this Saturday night. This game will up and down, faced paced, and fun for fans to watch.
January 16- Linton @ Bloomfield. If you’re looking for a good atmosphere, two small schools, and talent on the floor, this is the game for you. The Cardinals come in as my favorites to make it to Indy in 1A and Linton could make a deep run in 2A as well. Indiana junior all star, Blake Neill for Bloomfield is one of the better players in all of southern Indiana but Linton has some pieces that may be able to slow him down. Paul Oliver, Conner Dailey, and Rueben Goodman for the Miners will be a fun trio for a Linton team that just always seems to win. Bloomfield could solidify their spot at home as the 1A title favorites with a W or Linton could show they’re ready to compete themselves for a 2A title.
January 23- New Albany @ Silver Creek. On paper, as it stands in November, this is the game of the year in southern Indiana with the two best teams south of Indianapolis. The Dragons come in with one of the tallest teams in the state while the Dogs are fast with plenty of backcourt depth. The Silver Creek frontline runs 6’9, 6’8, and 6’7 while NA’s duo of soph. Noah Washington and Fr. Karson Stoudemire are two nationally rated players. If there are teams that could give NA problems this year it’s with height like the Dragons have. New Albany will throw waves of pressure with their guard- heavy/ fast- paced and up-tempo roster so SC pg Brandon Hunter will be key in this game. Should be a full house for this one.
