The Ultimate Indiana High School Hoops Road Trip 2024- 2025:

November 26- Ben Davis @ Fishers- A rematch of last year’s state championship game kicks off the season. Elite guard play and athleticism makes this game a must- see. JonAnthony Hall v. Mark Zackery are two of the state best athletes. Fisher’s Jason Gardner is poised for a big time sophomore season. Two of ERA’s preseason top 10 teams square off against each other on a Tuesday night in Fishers.

November 27- Avon @ Plainfield/ Scottsburg @ Austin- Two Hendrick’s County rivals square off on Thanksgiving Eve in a battle of ERA’s top 20 teams. The Orioles are loaded with talent including junior transfer, #6 ranked Keriawn Berry from Louisville. Plainfield has our #3 ranked junior in the state, 6’8 Noah Smith. Anything goes in rivalry games and we’ll get to see who jump starts their season with a big time W. The 2nd game for our southern Indiana fans is a rivalry we all know just got even bigger with the Austin hiring of former Scottsburg coach, Brent Jameson. There’s plenty to like story-wise off the court in this one but on the floor, Austin could take a big step @ rebuilding their program with a rivalry win on Thanksgiving eve against the defending 3A state champs.

November 30- Cathedral @ Jeffersonville- This matchup losses some sparkle with the injury to Jeff’s Tre Singleton and Cathedral’s R’mani Wells and Julien Smith not eligible, but there’s still plenty of talent on the floor left over for two of ERA’s top 5 teams overall to make for a pretty good game. How will Jeff handle the 6’8 Notre Dame- commit Brady Koehler and how will Cathedral handle the waves of players Jeff will throw out on the floor? An interesting side- note is Jeff’s Michael Cooper and PJ Douglas were AAU teammates of Koehler for Team Teague a few years back. If Jeff can win this one @ home it goes a long way to showing just how strong they are without their top guy.

December 3- Silver Creek @ Charlestown- This is an underrated matchup down south of two very good 3A teams. Junior Anthony Fresh is looking to have a breakout year while Silver Creek has visions of a long tourney run. This game will show if the Pirates are ready for primetime in 3A and if the Dragons are state title contenders. Silver Creek is loaded for the next 2-3 years.

December 6- Fishers @ Noblesville- Not much needs to be said for this one. Two of ERA’s top six 4A teams go head to head in a sectional 8 preview. Is Noblesville’s junior Justin Curry ready to play with the big boys and help carry his Millers to a home win or is the fire power of Fishers too much? If Noblesville wants to send a message that they’re a state title contender there’s no better game on their schedule to get a home win in this one. Plus you could just stay up in the Indy metro area and catch games all day on Saturday @ Brownsburg

December 7- All games @ Brownsburg- Fort Wayne Blackhawk v. Avon 11:30/ Northwood v. Zionsville 1:15/ Bedford NL v. Brownsburg 3:00/ Greenfield Central v. Ben Davis 4:45/ East Chicago Central v. Attucks 6:30/ Gary West v. Lawrence North 8:15- There would be alot to write about here but the 1 day even @ Brownsburg speaks for itself. Top teams and top talent will be in the house for this one- day showcase. If you are looking to stay locally down in southern Indiana an underrated sneaky good game to see will be Hauser @ Trinity Lutheran; two sectional foes and top six teams in 1A

December 13- New Palestine @ Greenfield Central- These two have become quite the rivals the past few seasons with both featuring Indiana All Star candidates. Braylon Mullins for GC and Julius Gizzi for New Pal. is the individual matchup here but both teams are stacked this year. New Pal drops down to 3A so this will be the one and only matchup between the two. New Pal. knocked out GC in last year’s sectional and the Cougars would like to get some revenge. Since the 2017-2018 season GC has just 2 wins v. the Dragons.

December 14- All games @ Grace/ All games @ Southport- One of the biggest days of basketball all year with two BIG time events. In northern Indiana you may want to check out; Brownsburg v. Chesterton, CAI v. Morgan Township, FW Luers v. Portage, FW Wayne v. Crown Point, FW Snider v. Warsaw. In the mid/ southern Indiana you may want to make the drive to Southport to check out; SB Riley v. Warren Central, New Palestine v. Zionsville, Avon v. Southport, Greenfield v. Lawrence North, Jeffersonville v. Noblesville, and Attucks v. Fishers. As long as the weather holds fans will have two great options. If not, streaming both events on the IHSAA app from the comfort of your home is a good way to spend a cold and snowy Saturday.

December 20- Jeffersonville @ Silver Creek- Possibly the two top teams south of Indy meet up in Sellersburg on a Friday night in December. Some may think the Dragons are a year away from being a state title contender but would put the whole state on notice with a win against the top team in southern Indiana. Jeffersonville will want to make a statement that without a doubt, there is no team in south of Indy this year that can run with the Red Devils. With Jeff’s schedule every game is looking like must-see and the question is; will Jeff big man, Tre Singleton be back from injury in this one?

December 21- Anderson @ Pike- The all day showcase of games @ Evansville Bosse is tempting (especially the Attucks v. Jeffersonville game) but this may be your best chance to see these two teams Anderson returns Indiana All Star candidate, Damien King and by this time freshman, Don Bowling should just be getting going and fun to check out. Speaking of newcomers to check out we really want to see sophomore Jahari Miller who comes in sort of unknown but very highly touted. 6’10 classmate Isaiah Hill is expected to have a breakout season and senior Damon Howard always delivers. This one should be fun.

December 27- Lawrenceburg Tournament/ North Central Tournament/ Noblesville Tournament- You can’t go wrong with either of these two events. Games will take place all day and there will be some good/ competitive matchups. At Lawrenceburg the best matchup on paper is the 5:00 game between Silver Creek and FW Blackhawk. New Pal, Guerin Catholic, Jennings Co. and Whiteland are also in the event. Up in Indy the game we’d like to see is Pike against Evansville Reitz. SB Riley v. Park Tudor is also intriguing. Carmel, North Central, Lake Central, and Evans. Harrison are also in action. One more potential big time matchup just north of Indy will be if Noblesville and Crown Point meet up in the 7:45 championship game of their tourney. Gary 21st plays Crown Point in the morning session and may derail the 4A power matchup.

December 28- Greenfield Central v. Jeffersonville (Hall of Fame Classic)- Speaking of big time matchups GC and Jeff meet up in the 2nd game of the HOF classic in the afternoon. Two of the state’s best players; Jeff’s Tre Singleton (if he’s back and healthy) and GC’s Braylon Mullins as well as two of the states best overall teams take the floor in New Castle. The other game with Warsaw v. Fishers will be BIG time as well.

December 31- New Albany @ Seymour- If you’re a real sicko for high school ball and you’d rather be at a game than out celebrating New Year’s Eve, then this is the game for you. In fact, it’s the only game in the state taking place. Plus if you won’t be able to watch New Albany’s freshman, Noah Washington anymore this season then this is the game to go to. Or if you’ve never been to possibly the best venue in the state and one of the biggest, going to Seymour will be a treat.

January 3- Fishers Tournament- A potential Fishers v. FW Wayne championship matchup would make this event a must- see. Lawrence Central will want to crash the party and pull an upset of Wayne in the semi finals. Fishers should almost assuredly be one of the two teams in the title game.

January 4- Jeffersonville @ Lawrence North- Get your popcorn ready for this one, especially if Jeff’s Tre Singleton is 100% a full go. These two played in the Aux. gym @ Carmel in June at the Charlie Hughes and the game felt like a tournament atmosphere. This is also a rematch of the first game of last year’s New Castle semi state in which Jeff took on the underdog roll and came out victorious. LN has plenty of talent to make it happen. Azavier Robinson, Kai McGrew, Brennan Miller v. Tre Singleton, Michael Cooper, and PJ Douglas is must-see.

January 10- New Albany @ Jeffersonville- Possibly our favorite game of the season here @ ERA. These 2 rivals are back on track as two of the top 4A teams in the state. Will New Albany, with the state’s top incoming freshman, Noah Washington be enough to stop the Jeff machine? People around New Albany believe they’ve got what it takes to derail the Jeffersonville machine. The top ranked Red Devils are loaded and go 10 deep. Ok, we will be watching alot of Red Devil basketball this year; we admit it, but for good reason.

January 11- Brownstown Central @ Jeffersonville- We’ll go ahead and make it a Red Devil weekend and stay for the Brownstown game on Saturday night. The Braves owned this game a year ago and Jeff is expecting to get some revenge. A Dave Benter coached team won’t lay down without a fight. Jack Benter was noticeably the best player on the floor last year; will one of the Jeff boys step up and be “that guy” for them in this game?

January 14- CAI @ Silver Creek/ Penn @ Warsaw- Depending on what part of the state you live in or how far you’re willing to drive in the middle of winter, one of these games is for you. CAI has beaten Silver Creek the last two years in very close games and Kasen Daeger v. Joshua Renfro, two of the state’s best 3 point shooters, will be fun. If you’re up north, getting to see if the young Kingsmen are ready against a veteran Tiger team will be interesting. Penn freshman Caleb Coolman is the real deal and worth watching.

January 17- Homestead @ FW Snider/ Silver Creek @ Brownstown/ Jeffersonville @ Floyd Central- You could make a weekend getaway to Fort Wayne on Friday and Saturday and see two really good games. Homestead comes in as our #43 ranked team with a good mix of experience and youth. Junior Mack Welker is an ERA Breakout player. Snider may be a year away but they won’t want to wait. Their 2027 combo class of Trell Houge and Keaton Paschall is special along with returning senior Qualyn Compton. Or if you’re in the southern Indiana area and like to stay there, SC @ BC is a very good Sectional 30 matchup. Daeger and Coomer can both shoot lights out while Hall inside v. Whitehead/ Hoffman will be fun. The X factor for the Dragons may be sophomore point guard, Brandon Hunter. The other game way down south is FC hosting the Red Devils. Highlander coach Fonso White is telling anyone willing to listen that FC has the pieces to matchup with Jeffersonville. There will be plenty of height and talent on the floor for both teams.

January 18- Fort Wayne Luers @ FW Blackhawk/ Switzerland County @ South Ripley- Although these two FW schools are no longer sectional foe’s and in different classes this is still a marquee matchup in Fort Wayne. Blackhawk’s size with 6’8 Sr. Kellen Pickett v. Luers guard player with the Truesdale twins will be fun to watch. Both teams look to make a run at state title in their class. If you’re from down south you have to check out Pacer senior, Cam Craig. He will inevitably become SC’s all time leading scorer, even after missing most all of his sophomore year. South Ripley may have their own all time leading scorer by this point with senior Cole Henry. This is a good ole fashioned ORVC matchup that may decide the conference.

January 24- Silver Creek @ New Albany/ Gary 21st @ East Chicago- Two potential top 25 teams in the state battle it out down in southern Indiana. If Silver Creek can go into the Doghouse and come out with a W, they’ll solidify themselves as a top 5 team in 3A team and real contenders to make a semi state run. If the Bulldogs can pull out a W it shows us they’re the 2nd best team south of the Indy metro area (depending on how the Jeffersonville game goes). If you’re up in the Region area this is a big time game with lots of talent and athleticism. East Chicago features Indiana All Star candidate Dominique Murphy and Gary 21st comes in with junior all star candidate, Terrence Hayes Jr. Two big time matchups on completely different ends of the state.

January 25- CAI @ Paoli- If you haven’t got a chance yet this season to check out CAI’s Joshua Renfro or Paoli’s Fletcher Cole, do yourself a favor and take a trip to Paoli on this Saturday night. These two former AAU teammates know each other’s games and always put on a good show. The Rams have a sneaky good team in 2A this year that could see them break into the top 10 and CAI is expected to compete for a title in 1A. Super Burger before the game is a must-stop for your pre-game meal.

January 31- Charlestown @ Brownstown Central- One of our favorite’s on the season. This is another test for the Pirates to see if they’re legit contenders in Sectional 30. Going on the road and winning against a defending state champ will let everyone know they’re not to be taken lightly anymore. The Braves want to protect their homecourt where Coach Benter rarely loses. Anthony Fresh is the name everyone is talking about at Charlestown but watch out for the others and how they step up when Fresh is face-guarded or doubled. BC Sr. Colby Hall will be a tough matchup to deal with inside/ out in this one.

February 1- Attucks @ Ben Davis- Up- tempo high flying athleticism will be on display for this one between two of the city’s best. Can Ben Davis make it three straight championship game appearances and will Attucks be able to make a run at a state title after dropping down to 3A? Tavion Williams for BD v. Dez Briscoe for Attucks is the matchup inside while Chris Hurt (Attucks) v. Mark Zackery (BD) is the point guard matchup. Look for Sherman Moss- Wright and/ or Justin Parks to step up for the Giants. There is an abundance of talent on the floor for this one.

February 6- Pike @ Ben Davis/ North Central @ Lawrence Central/ Southwestern (Hanover) @ South Ripley- Ok, so we have some options for this Thursday night slate of games. If you’re around Indy, you’re obviously checking out the Ben Davis or Lawrence Central game. And for good reason because those two games feature some heavyweights and really good talent. Either one of those two should be great games. If you’re looking for a true, under- the radar game (and live in southern Indiana), the Rebels traveling up 421 to Versailles to take on the Raiders in a ORVC matchup is it. Southwestern took it to SR last year with a 20+ point beating but the Raiders return most of their team from last year including 6’8 Sr. Cole Henry. SW also returns their big, 6’5 Landon Kidwell. The ORVC conference may be decided by this one.

February 8- Liberty Christian @ Lawrence Central- This is a 2:30 afternoon start time for these two LC powers. Will Liberty Christian’s young guns be able to compete with the big bad 4A boys? Will Lawrence Central be able to handle business on their home floor against possibly the top 1A team in the state? This will be a very interesting game with questions that will be answered. It would be a big win for whoever is able to pull it out.

February 11- FW Blackhawk @ FW Snider- Another big time matchup in the 260. Blackhawk has moved up to 3A but is more than capable this year with arguably the best player in the city, Kellen Pickett. I’ve heard some people say that Snider is a year away from being “the team in Ft. Wayne” but winning this game would definitely put the city on notice. Wayne may be considered the big dogs this year but Blackhawk and Snider are right there on their heels.

February 13- Christian Academy of Indiana @ Trinity Lutheran- Two of southern Indiana’s 1A title contenders meet up in Seymour. This is the 2nd of potentially 3 matchups between these two this year. Trinity Lutheran’s super sophomore Hudson Lang looks to make a name for himself and what better game to do it than against a top 5 team. Warrior senior Joshua Renfro will be one of the state’s top ppg scorers this season and the Warriors want to show they’re the team to beat in southern Indiana this year.

February 14- Lawrence Central @ Greenfield Central/ Terre Haute North @ Bloomington North- Two really good games to choose from here. Will Lawrence Central be able to compete with a top 10 team in the state and limit Mr. Basketball frontrunner, Braylon Mullins? Will GC show their dominance against an Indy metro team at home? Two teams that have hopes of making a semi state run this year, THS and BN both have lots of talent and are ready for primetime. Will the Cougars be able to deal with THS height? How will THS deal with the Cougars athleticism? There’s no better place to be on Valentine’s Day than in a gym at a ball game.

February 15- Carmel @ Avon- This is a matchup between potential two top 10 teams in 4A. Carmel is always in the mix while Avon is looking to build their program into a consistent contender. The development of 6’8 Evan Harrell will be key for the Hounds and how the new transfer adjusts for Avon, junior Keriawn Berry. On paper Avon may have the more talented roster but how will they adjust to Carmel’s style of play?

February 18- Trinity Lutheran @ Scottsburg- Ok, so there’s a couple bigger games around the state, but for us, we have to make it to “the pressure cooker” in Scottsburg at least once a year. It will be strange not seeing Clancy, Miller, Richardson, and Zellers on the floor for the purple and gold but I’d like to see how their young guys adjust by the end of the year, in particular sophomore Jarin Luttrell and freshman Caiden Boswell. We’ll know alot about Trinity Lutheran by this time and if they’re 1A south contenders. Will sophomore Hudson Lang and/ or Reed Mellencamp take that next step and become one of the better underclassmen south of Indy?

February 21- Noblesville @ Avon- If you haven’t noticed we’re really high on the Orioles this year. Noblesville should be favored on paper to win this one but Avon could be gelling going into sectional play and a home win will go a long way for their confidence as a state title contender. These are two top 10 teams that may not get out of their own sectional but could also be a state championship game preview. A Baron Walker v. Jedidiah Minnett matchup will be fun, as will Justin Curry v. Keriawn Berry.

February 22- Anderson @ FW Wayne- Will the Indians be able to go on the road and beat a top 5 team? That’s what they will have to do to win a sectional so why not start here? Freshman Don Bowling will be well established in the lineup by this time and give Anderson another athletic scorer to go along with Damien King. Wayne is simply loaded and this class of 2025 has done alot of winning for the Generals. Protecting homecourt and going into the tournament with a big win may catapult them to a state title run.

February 25- Brownstown @ New Albany- Yes, Carmel @ Attucks could be fun, especially if you’re in the Indy area, but we’re not so we’re going with the Braves visiting the Doghouse. The hungry and athletic Dogs will need a good strong win going into an always tough sectional. Brownstown could use the confidence of beating a very good Bulldog team on the road going into sectional play. Expect NA to want to run and gun while Coach Benter will try and slow down the pace of play.

Under the radar/ Sleeper Teams:

Hauser Jets- Hauser went 18-7 last year and Ledger Gelfius, Kameron Blair, Taeshaun Tungate, Stryker Gill, and Gavin Keller all return. On top of that the Jets drop down from 2A to 1A where they’ll be a contender in the south. They’re looking to have their best season since their 2006 state title team. There’s alot of talk down south that Hauser is a tough matchup for 1A south schools. One of their biggest hurdles is located in their own sectional against Trinity Lutheran.

Switzerland County Pacers- The Pacers come in as defending sectional champs but still are flying under the radar tucked in the very southeastern corner of Indiana. SC returns 3 starters including all state candidate and 25.2 ppg scorer Cam Craig and underrated guard Kayden Riley. They move over to a super competitive, but winnable Southwestern (Hanover) sectional. The Pacers have the experience to obtain the programs first ever regional win and make a run at semi state.

Pike Red Devils- Is it really possible for one of the better basketball programs in the state to be considered a sleeper? The Red Devils went 6-17 last year with a murder’s row of a schedule under first year coach Jeff Teague. 6’10 Isaiah Hill is possibly the best prospect in the entire state regardless of class and incoming OTE transfer, soph. Jahari Miller is nationally rated. This team will be much better than last year’s and have one of the best combos of 2027 kids in the state. Here @ ERA we’re certainly not sleeping on them, but we could look like geniuses or things could go the opposite way. What we want to see this year is improvement and to become a legit sectional threat to Ben Davis, Avon, and Plainfield.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders- Being in the same sectional as Park Tudor hurts, but if anyone can upset the Panthers the Raiders may be able to do it. They only lose one starter off of last year’s team and return one of the state’s best sophomores, 6’7 Devin Bolden who put in 11.6 ppg and 9 rebounds per game in his first varsity year. Also returning after putting up 10.1 ppg is senior Marshawn Henderson. Junior Cheick Wade had a strong showing during fall ball and averaged 10 ppg last season. Ritter has a tough schedule that will prepare them for March and possibly an upset or two.

Charlestown Pirates- The Pirates are looking for their first sectional title since 2008 and may just do it with a junior group of AJ Todd, Parker Odle, and one of our breakout players of the year, Anthony Fresh. Getting past Silver Creek and Brownstown, who got pulled up to 3A is the challenge for Charlestown, but if they can manage that, a semi state run is not out of the question. It seems like the Pirates have righted the ship in Charlestown. This year and next will be some of the Pirates best teams in a long time.

Jimtown Jimmies- Jimtown went just 13-11 last year but make the drop down to 2A with class realignment and look to be sectional favorites. With Dylen Fey and Brandon King both returning Jimtown looks to win their first sectional since their state title team back in 2004. Jr. guard Will Spurgeon had a strong fall league showing and is a knockdown shooter. Sr. Javen Jackson is an athletic guard that will help as well. Jimtown could be a semi state sleeper team up north in 2A.

Northwood Panthers- It’s hard to be slept on when you just won a state championship 2 years ago but most are gone from that team. One key piece remaining is 6’8 senior Tyler Raasch who looks to finish out his high school career on another state title run. Throw in transfer brothers, Maddux and Myles Everingham to the Panthers roster from Wawasee. 3A is super tough this year, but they are certainly capable, and probable sectional favorites.

New Albany Bulldogs- After 6 seasons without a sectional title (random fact; which if not won this year will equal an all time drought for the New Albany boys program), the Dogs are trending up and may be the 2nd best team overall south of Indianapolis. 6’5 senior athlete Chris Lampkins and 6’4 two-guard Rylan Schrink will have something to say about who cuts down the Seymour nets in March. Jeffersonville is loaded in their own backyard, but if anyone can rain on the Red Devil parade its the Bulldogs. What really has the New Albany program excited is the arrival of 6’5 freshman Noah Washington, who may be the state’s best in 2028. Throw in a deep roster and an absolutely loaded 2028 and 2029 class; the future looks very bright down in New Albany.

Princeton Tigers- The Tigers are tucked way down in the Pocket City where it’s tough to get respect. Senior Jace Jenkins and junior Edwin Holmes make up dynamic duo for Princeton that are now considered sectional favorites. Junior Demarcus Newsom looks to have a breakout year as well. The path to the semi state down south below Indy is wide open with a few spots up for grabs and Princeton is most definitely one of those teams. It’s hard to believe the Tigers have only won 1 sectional crown since the 2008-2009 season.

Southwestern (Hanover) Rebels- The Rebels have been stuck in one of the toughest sectionals in the state the last few years with Brownstown and Providence among the state’s 2A best. This year with the shakeup the Rebels are in a tough, but manageable sectional on their home floor. A good group of juniors (Brady Cook, Caleb Goode, and Braxton Lewis) along with senior big, Landon Kidwell should continue to keep the Rebels running. If they can pull through a sectional win over ORVC foes Switzerland County and/ or South Ripley, a semi state run is not out of the possibility. Since the 2017-2018 season the Rebels are 147- 36 and have become one of the state’s most consistent and winning programs.

Northridge Raiders- Some outside of northern Indiana may not know much about Northridge but this team is absolutely loaded and full of experience. The leading Raider is 6’2 Bethel commit, Mason Bales who’s an All- State candidate and one of ERA’s top performers at the Top 100 in June. The Raiders had a very strong month of summer ball and return most everyone from a team that went 18-6 last year. The team has very good chemistry and have been playing ball together for a long time. Northridge will have their hands full with Warsaw in Sectional 4 but are more capable of knocking them out.

Clinton Prairie Gophers- The Gophers drop down to 1A this year and are instant contenders in the north. Senior Jake McGraw is one of the better players in all of 1A ball and is capable of carrying the team far in March. CP was 18- 4 last year but one of the more interesting stats is the Gophers have not won a sectional title since 1982. McGraw and his teammates look to end the long drought this year.
